Sara has been told by past colleagues that she is a "jack of all trades," being able to grasp new learnings quickly and adapt easily when necessary, leading to an accumulation of skills that can transfer into any position. With her great attention to detail and ability to hit the ground running in whatever she does, Sara takes onto new projects quickly and easily, and thrives on owning projects to reach a desired end goal. Getting to work with and learn from colleagues in a team setting brings her joy and getting to be a part of the United Way network is an honor to her.
Sara currently leads Marketing, Communications, and Event Planning for United Way of North Carolina (UWNC), focusing on advancing the mission of helping every North Carolinian thrive through promoting UWNC's various health and human service programs and by supporting the 47 Local United Ways across the state with marketing materials and annual network events to drive positive impact in their communities.
Prior to UWNC, Sara came from The Hunt Institute, where she worked alongside fellow event planners and policy analysts to plan and facilitate events nationwide for legislators and public school educators. The goals of the events were to drive policy change to make the public school experience - including childcare and post-college opportunities - more equitable, affordable, and accessible for all Americans.
Prior to that, she held positions in Sales and Marketing at Keen Decision Systems for almost four years, where she worked in a team setting to sell and market Keen's SaaS products to Fortune 1000 executives and spearheaded Keen's successful Advocate Program as a new sales channel.
When not working, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends (and beloved cat named Mousse), exploring the Triangle's food scene, attending concerts and comedy shows, and doing recreational activities outdoors.
