Cary, NC - On Wednesday, June 11, United Way of North Carolina (UWNC) hosted its annual Jones Street Advocacy Day, in which Local United Ways (LUW) come together in Raleigh to meet with their districts' legislators to educate them on current programs and needs within their communities.
This year, the group spoke with their lawmakers about UWNC's many programs such as NC 211, NCDIT's Digital Opportunity, MyFriendBen, and the new ALICE movement that has arrived in North Carolina. They were also sure to highlight the hard work conducted by NC 211 for relief and recovery during Hurricane Helene.
Towards the end of the event, the group got to sit in on the House of Representative's Session and had a chance to stand up and be recognized before the session began.
