Cary, NC - On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, United Way of North Carolina welcomed guests, partners, and representatives from local United Ways across the state to celebrate NC 211 Day — a powerful showcase of how information and connection change lives.
Held to highlight the critical role NC 211 plays in supporting individuals and families, the event gave attendees a behind-the-scenes look at how the statewide information and referral system operates every day, 24/7. Guests had the opportunity to listen to anonymous NC 211 calls, offering a firsthand glimpse into the real challenges North Carolinians face — from housing instability and food insecurity to utility assistance and disaster recovery support.
Attendees also learned more about the more than 16,000 vetted resources housed in the NC 211 database. This expansive network connects callers to local nonprofits, government agencies, and community organizations that provide essential services across all 100 counties. Staff shared how resources are continuously updated to ensure accuracy and accessibility for those seeking help.
In addition, United Way of North Carolina demonstrated how NC 211 data — along with insights from other programs — is transformed into meaningful reports. These reports help community leaders, policymakers, and partners identify emerging needs, track trends, and make informed decisions that strengthen communities statewide.
The event was honored by the attendance of Town of Cary Mayor Harold Weinbrecht, whose presence underscored the importance of collaboration between local government and community-based organizations in addressing the needs of North Carolinians.
NC 211 Day served as a powerful reminder that behind every data point is a real person — and that through partnership, innovation, and compassion, United Way of North Carolina continues to connect people to the help and hope they need.
