  • Participate in Workshop on Creating Awesome Donor Experiences
  • Develop guiding principles for working together to strenghten our network
  • Celebrate Spirit of NC Best Practices and Winners

Meet Alexia Savage - UWW's new Southeast Regional Director - who will share the Modern United Way context and alignment with GCL and National Accounts.

Creating Awesome Donor Experiences - Part II

Participants will work in groups to create awesome donor experiences focused on: volunteer engagement, strengthening United Way's value with corporate donors, workplace revitalization, and high wealth donors.  Groups will share their plans of action and dialogue with the room on how best to implement strategies.  This segment will be led by the marketing and communication staff listed below:

Shelly Betz, UW of Central Carolinas

Elisabeth Bocklet, UW of Asheville & Buncombe County

Michael Cottingham, UW of Greater Greensboro

Kim Thore, UW of Forsyth County


4:00-5:00pm - Carolina Hotel - Ross/Tufts Room

Large group discussion to:

  • Develop guiding principles for United Way action on campaigns that are regional in nature or that cross county lines along with strategizing on how we shift our work to a shared culture.
  • These principles will be reviewed in their final form at the Southeast Regional Conference during the North Carolina state meeting.  
6:00pm - Casual Dinner with Networking and Guest from Publix
St. Andrews Room - (Resort Golf Clubhouse)
Dinner with introduction of new UWNC Board members and staff; United Way Executive Directors and other staff from across the state; hear from Publix representative about United Way partnership and expansion in North Carolina; and, network with your peers.

Selected Spirit of North Carolina Award Winners will lead a best practice showcase offering their creative strategies that resulted in successful campaigns.  These fast-paced presentations are full of great ideas and innovation that you can take home and integrate into your work.  

*Opportunity for you to invite campaign leadership who have never participated in Spirit of NC or those who could benefit from fresh ideas.

Spirit of North Carolina winners will join their United Way partners for lunch and celebration of their campaign and community engagement success for 2019.  More than 35 winning companies are expected with 215+ in attendance. 



Good news:  $190 in registration, up to $500 for travel

and $205 per diem x 2 days ($410)

This event has been approved by United Way Worldwide for flexible credit use. That means each attendee can use flex credits for up to $190 in registration, up to $500 for travel and up to $410 ($205/ day x 2 days) in per diem. Please pay for expenses as they arise and submit the request form below after the event concludes to receive your reimbursement.

The link to the digital travel reimbursement form is included in this email and must be completed by March 20, 2020 in order to be reimbursed. Once this deadline has passed, no further reimbursement requests can be accepted. A processing fee of $35 will be applied to your flex credit application.

Please note that it is the responsibility of each attendee to obtain internal approval to use flexible credits.
