Born to lead, empower, mentor, coach, motivate and facilitate, Pastor Tharesa is President and CEO of Intentional Excellence Consulting; a retired local government and nonprofit Executive Director and Administrator; People Planner and Outreach Manager; Certified Facilitator and Outreach Specialist for 25 years; creator, author and lead facilitator of HUD Choice Neighborhood Initiative Grassroots Leadership Academy; and author of Women & Their Finances, A Place at the Table, The ABC’s of Collaboration and Living Beyond Time featured in My New Bern Magazine.

Tharesa has a love and passion for community and people. Known as a servant leader, her passion is manifested through volunteerism, community building, facilitation, leadership, and community engagement. She has served and still serves the community in many ways, including, but not limited to, serving as: the 2016 Chamber of Commerce Chair & on the Executive Committee; Board Secretary for Arts to End Genocide; Past President of United Way of Coastal Carolina; CARTS Advisory Board Chair; Craven DSS Advisory Board member; Swiss Bear Redevelopment Corporation Board member; Craven Community College Scholarship Committee member; NBAMPO Citizens Advisory Committee Chair, Governor Service Award Coordinator; and Craven Pamlico ReEntry Council member. She was also past president of the statewide NC Housing Coalition and founder of Neuse-Trent Housing Alliance. 

Pastor Tharesa pastors at The Living Word Worship Center in New Bern with her husband of 34 years. They have been in ministry for over 34 years, building and empowering lives. 

Tharesa received an AAS degree from Coastal Carolina Community College; a BA from University of Mount Olive; and an MA with a Specialization in Marriage and Family from Liberty University. She is a graduate of the Duke University Certificate in Nonprofit Management program, NC Rural Center Institute of Economic Development, NC Rural Center Entrepreneurship Program, Women in Politics Institute, the NC Institute of Political Leadership, Craven Community College Small Business Center Entrepreneur Academy, and Leadership Craven. She is also a Certified Housing Counselor and Certified Grassroots Facilitator.

Tharesa has won many awards for her servant leadership style, including University of Mount Olive College Hall of Fame Award, Governor's Lifetime Achievement Award, City of New Bern Employee of the Year, Chamber Nonprofit Council of the Year. She had the privilege of running for New Bern mayor in 2013 on a servant leadership platform. She is committed to her faith, family, entrepreneurship, the empowerment of others, servant leadership, professional development, and her friends.
