Teach for America - Eastern North Carolina

Travis currently serves as a Director, Alumni Impact with Teach For America – Eastern North Carolina. Teach For America recruits and trains high-performing college graduates to work in under-resourced schools across the country, 155 of whom come to Eastern NC each year. Through a tailored set of regional summits and leadership development cohorts, Travis and his team provide responsive support to nearly 1,000 local Teach for America alumni in their efforts to be equitable, local leaders.

A student of history and culture in the American South, Travis believes that cross-sector visibility and partnership together represent one of the most viable paths to the region’s ultimate achievement of racial equity and quality of life for all its residents.

Travis holds a B.A. in International Studies and M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.

A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, he has also called Chattanooga, TN; Clarksdale, MS; and New Orleans home before settling in Greenville, NC with his wife Anna and son, Wilson (2).
