United Way's 2-1-1 Counts is the first tool to provide real-time, searchable and visual presentations of data from 2-1-1 call centers across the U.S. Using 2-1-1 Counts, you’ll find community-specific needs of vulnerable populations. Like the dashboard in a car, 2-1-1 Counts displays data-based indicators in an easy-to-use form that will enable users to check trends, make comparisons and share information.
In many communities, most people who call 2-1-1 for help are low-income, low-education, unemployed and/or uninsured who have hit bottom. They need basic services, such as shelter, heat, electricity, and food. 2-1-1 Counts works with your local 2-1-1 to share this information with community leaders and service agencies.
The result: better lives for the lowest-income families, with fewer unmet basic needs and greater capacity for achieving well-being and leading self-sufficient, productive lives.
2-1-1 Counts is developed, distributed and supported and distributed by Health Communication Impact(HCI).
The HCRL has pioneered research into the use of 2-1-1 help lines to address health issues among poor families. It created 2-1-1 Counts and has launched it initially in Florida and North Carolina with the help of a grant from the William R. Kenan Jr. Charitable Trust.
