Denise Cumbee Long

Executive Director

United Way of Henderson County

Denise Cumbee Long has been the Executive Director of United Way of Henderson County since April of 2015. Prior to coming to United Way of Henderson County, she was the Executive Director of International House, a nonprofit serving immigrants and refugees in Charlotte. She has also served as the Executive Director of NCLEAF, a statewide loan repayment assistance program for public interest attorneys, and Executive Director of Safe Space, a nonprofit serving victims of domestic violence in Louisburg, NC.  

Denise holds a BA degree from Wake Forest University, a JD from UNC Chapel Hill Law School, and an MDIV from Southeastern Theological Seminary.  

She resides in Flat Rock, North Carolina with her husband and enjoys hiking, kayaking and mountain living.
