District Manager, Government and Community Relations
David McNeill serves as a district manager, government and community relations, for Duke Energy. In that role he works to enhance customer satisfaction and serves as an advocate for local communities. His focus includes working with community leaders and elected officials on issues of importance for the region, and building strategic partnerships for the betterment of the communities. He is also responsible for local philanthropic giving through the Duke Energy Foundation.
David has served more than 34 years with Duke Energy, and its predecessor companies, Carolina Power & Light and Progress Energy. Based in Aberdeen, he is responsible for community relations in Anson, Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, Montgomery, Richmond, Robeson, and Scotland counties.
In addition to his service on the UWNC Board, he currently serves as chairman of the Sandhills Military Council, and on the board of directors for the Moore County Partners in Progress, the Moore County Schools Business Advisory Board, the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce board, and on the allocation committee for the United Way of Richmond County. He previously served on the board of directors for the Moore County Chamber of Commerce and the UNC Pembroke Foundation.
David was born in Pinehurst and raised in Aberdeen. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, and earned an MBA from Campbell University.
David is married to his wife, Caprice. His step-daughter, Lillian Quinn Patterson, is a rising senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
