United Way of North Carolina Staff:

The first step in finding help is knowing who to contact.  United Way of North Carolina works primarily with NC United Ways and does not provide services to individuals.  Everyone knows 9-1-1 is for emergencies, 4-1-1 is for directory assistance and now 2-1-1 is for finding community health and human service resources.   If you are in need of help, you can search the 2-1-1 Information and Referral database at http://www.nc211.org or call 2-1-1 any time 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to link to vital services in your community.  This service is free and multilingual
