United Way of Pitt County names Jim Cieslar as Executive Director

Jim Cieslar took the helm at the United Way of Pitt County on November 1st.  He brings more than 35 years of nonprofit management experience to his new role.

Jim will be focusing on two major goals: leading United Way of Pitt County in generating new and additional revenues and helping the organization accomplish its three community impact objectives. Pitt’s community-selected issues include:  lowering the high school dropout rate, lowering the unemployment rate, and providing safety net services to meet basic needs within Pitt County.

Before joining the United Way of Pitt County, Jim served as Senior-Vice President of Operations at United Way of Tri-County in Framingham, Massachusetts. His previous nonprofit experience has also included serving as President of Berkshire United Way in Pittsfield Massachusetts, President of Washtenaw United Way in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and as Vice president, Allocations and Agency Relations for Tulsa Area United Way.

Jim has a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Affairs from Assumption College and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University.

We extend a hearty North Carolina welcome to Jim and his wife, Ibi.  We expect there will probably be a slight “learning curve” since they are moving from Massachusetts.
