2009 Spirit of North Carolina Applications
Spirit of North Carolina Campaigning for Excellence Awards are sponsored annually by the United Way of North Carolina. The awards program provides statewide recognition for exceptional commitment and support to communities through local United Way involvement. The awards honor corporate and nonprofit organizations that demonstrate excellence in their United Way campaigns.
All organizations and companies that run United Way campaigns in North Carolina are eligible and encouraged to enter the awards competition.
In 2009, the Campaigning for Excellence Committee is offering two ways to submit application:
- The notebook (traditional) version
- Online application submitted electronically (without notebook)
Organizations may choose which method best meets their needs. All applications are judged without prejudice.

Spirit Awards honor performance leaders
Spirit of North Carolina Campaigning for Excellence Awards are sponsored
annually by the United Way of North Carolina. Spirit Awards are designed
to recognize companies and their employees that demonstrate campaign
excellence and community commitment. A committee of United Way professionals
judged more than 70 outstanding submissions from top companies, organizations,
governmental entities, healthcare and educational institutions, as well
as businesses – large and small. Awards were presented to 25 companies
and organizations during the United Way of North Carolina’s Annual
Meeting February 5, 2010 in Pinehurst, NC.
Organizations and companies were judged on the Standards of Excellence
criteria which includes among others leadership giving, volunteerism,
employee participation and giving levels, year-round education, corporate
support, incentive programs, and campaign rallies.
We salute these companies as performance leaders for their campaigning
excellence during 2006 United Way campaigns:
