UWNC Board of Directors
The United
Way of North Carolina is a member-supported, state organization
whose purpose is to serve the 58 local United Way organizations
in our state through:
- Implementation of 2-1-1, a health and human services referral
service
- Statewide coordination of the State Employees Combined
Campaign (SECC)
- Advocacy on behalf of health & human services issues
in the North Carolina
General Assembly
- Networking and training events for staff and volunteers
- Technical and consultative services such as board orientations,
assistance with needs assessments, etc.
- Manage state set-aside funds that support the Emergency
Food and Shelter Programs through the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA)
- Help local United Ways coordinate services following disasters
- Serve as administrator for governor sponsored statewide
disaster relief funds
- Recognize outstanding local United Way campaign efforts
through "Spirit of NC" awards process

- Vision Statement: United Way of North Carolina will be recognized as a respected and highly effective organization by its members within the United Way system, and its collaborating partners outside the United Way system. We will be known as an instrumental force in ensuring that the United Way system in North Carolina is successful in addressing the essential human needs of our communities.
